An award-winning
photographer, I began my photographic pursuit at eighteen while serving
in the US Air Force in Morocco. My work has been collected and published
nationally. Born and raised in New England, I now live with my wife
Natalie on Whidbey Island and enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking and
skiing. As a photographer I try to see
the unseen in the commonplace that surrounds us every day and to follow
the thoughts of Ernst Hass: “If there is nothing to see, yet you see it
– that is poetry. If there is something to see, and everybody sees it –
that is observation. But if you can make something out of nothing and
make everybody see it – that is poetry in photography.” Recently
I have switched from film to a digital camera. The photographic image is
processed in the computer using Photoshop. My archival prints are made
using carbon pigment inks (Epson Pro 4000 printer) on fine-art paper.
Every effort is made to use archival acid-free materials in the matting
and framing of the print. I do all the work myself and have complete
control over the entire process.
